CCY members generally work towards the Youth Test which encourages safe, responsible camping while still enjoying yourself. Passing the test entitles them to attend International Rallies and youngsters of 14 and over to camp alone at Club meets or Youth Rallies, since the test covers everything about camping.
If you pass, you will have proved you can pack everything you need, select a pitch, erect your tent, prepare healthy meals, read a map and use a compass alongside other vital safety precautions, such as choosing the right equipment for the weather conditions as well as basic first aid.
Members who pass the Youth Test before their 18th birthday are entitled to pay the lower CCY membership rates until their 21st birthday and a Senior Youth rate up to the age of 30.
AIM
The aim of the National Youth Test is to establish the candidate's ability to camp unsupervised, safely and competently at Club sites and meets.
ARRIVAL
The candidate should walk on to the field from the gate, as if they had travelled the full distance in that manner.
All equipment and kit must be packed in or on the rucksack. A small bag may be used to hand carry fresh food for the weekend and this may be used to take refuse away from the site. One hand should be kept free at all times, for opening and shutting gates, etc and in case of a stumble for fall.
