Region Youth Meet .
Crealy – April 2010.
I think Global Warming is now taking effect…. Normally Region Youth Meets are wet and cold but this weekend was beautiful weather.
On Friday evening 10 youth and myself set off in the Dorset DA minibus for Exeter where we met up with Tamar DA. Kylie and Vicckie arrived later followed by another car containing 2 Yorkshire and 1 Cambian and Wyvern Youth who had travelled all that way to join us. This made 27 in total.
Friday evening the Youth were very excited to see each other but eventually settled down for the night.
Saturday, after breakfast, we piled into the minibuses and headed for Crealy. We had a good day there, getting wet on the log flume and the “big kids” playing Tag in the Adventure Warehouse. I seem to remember having to apologise to parents with children on the Pirate Boat after a chant about Yorkshire Puddings, but they all took it in good fun!
After a game of rounders and Twister we had a barbecue.
The Youth would all like to thank the Region for the use of the IPOD speaker. This was a big hit and put them in control of their music which they like.
Sunday saw more sun, more bacon butties, more rounders and sad goodbyes.
Fortunately, we only shared the site with one other couple who said they thought our Youth were very well behaved and they didn’t hear a peep out of them!!! I must say, the Yorkshire contingency certainly livened up the proceedings!
I think everyone will agree that it was a great success all round.
Over the weekend much enthusiasm was shown by the Youth for the forthcoming events and some are intending to do their test this year.
