What is the youth? What do they do? ...and all that.
OK if you are reading this you must be interested in what is going on.
You will read, and please do carry on, even though you will get bored, a lot about tests, rules and stuff, but these are just things that happen while you are in the Dorset DA youth. Being part of the Camping and Caravan Club, a national organisation, it needs these things to function properly, so you get the best you can from being a Dorset Youth.
What you want to know is, what will I get out of it.
If you are 12 through to 18 years old this is your chance for a bit of independence, come along and camp in your own area, with people of your own age, only the youth leaders are allowed into this area, so even your mum or dad can't walk in.
There are Youth leaders to organise any activities.
This could be simply rounder's in the field with your mates or a trip to Rome, like the youth had recently. The 60th International Youth Rally Rome 2010 see the photos here.
It works like this, you join the youth, with your parents consent. Learn how to camp independently looking after yourself, the youth leaders will always be there to guide you. You will learn first aid, cooking skills, camping skills, country side care, map reading and lots more, but these are things that happen without you realizing it. You will be cooking your own food, and putting up your own tent.
There are lots of organised events were you will meet with like minded people of your age, nationally and internationally. The Dorset DA will have lots for you to do but there are also the South West Region meets, National meets, and international meets, all taking you away with your friends. This will often be in a mini bus with the youth leader.
Next time you are in the field have a look out for Nikki and ask what's happening.
The Youth Leaders are responsible for all aspects of Youth behaviour and activities. While in Youth Lines, on organised trips and excursions away from the D.A. they will accept responsibility for Youth welfare, safety and behaviour.
The Youth also have a responsibility for their own actions, and are expected to comply with any reasonable request from either or both Youth Leaders.
Take a look around the website and find out more.
If you are 12-18 and would like to camp with the Youth please email me with your details.
