Countryside Care

The Dorset D.A.are members of The Dorset Wildlife Trust and have been for many years. Now that our membership has increased we intend to support them and assist with working parties Being a camper means you live the outside life for a short spell, either at weekends or weeks at a time, crawling out from the bricks and mortar that surround us every day, being couped up for hours in air conditioned offices, Smoky factory and alike. We all enjoy the simple but beautiful countryside around us, to give a little time and effort for all that reward is a pleasure. The president of the Camping And Caravanning Club is David Bellamy so it make sense for the club to be closely linked to the Dorset Wildlife Trust The Dorset Wildlife Trust is the largest conservation charity in Dorset with over 25,000 members, they are part of The Wildlife Trusts Partnership; a nationwide network of 47 local wildlife trusts working for a better future for wildlife. Volunteers are an essential part of Dorset Wildlife Trust. They rely on the efforts of hundreds of volunteers just like us in the Dorset's, of course we get involved in the type of volunteering that is a pleasure, you could be walking along a beach picking up litter, or doing some overgrowth clearing, but one thing is for sure you are helping to keep our part of the world looking at its best. So why not contact Gordon coleman, the DA country side care officer for further information. Mention Countryside Care and what springs to mind? Past times on Brownsea Island, ripping down rhododenerons to restore the habitat for Tesrodour adopted squirrel. Burning our pyre and eating baked potatoes to keep warm. All agreed it was great fun but hard work! You will be pleased to know it was all worth while, the clearances have been completed and you can breath a sigh of relief!  It is not our intent to drag you kicking and screaming to sort out hedging and ditching nor to rebuild stone walls. We hope to enlighten members as to what is available in the name of ‘Countryside Care’ in the Dorset area and keep you updated with organized events that as individuals or groups you may wish to attend. As they are all ‘public events’ organized by Dorset Wildlife Trust, health and safety and public liability insurance do not need to be provided or managed by DDA. We have obtained membership of DWT (Reg No. 045269) with this and your CCC card you are welcome to attend the advertised events. There are conservation tasks, walks, wildlife centre open days, talks and educational evenings in various areas. Until we ascertain members requirements we do not intend to organize our own events. If you participate in any of the advertised events, please let us know, photo’s and reports would be appreciated. Our aim is to help members understand why we should Care for our Countryside .
