From the Chairman
Wonderful Beaches, Wild Moors and stunning scenery all this is found in the South west Region.
In 2007 we will add to this with the first ever NFOL to be held in the heart of the West Country at Westpoint Arena just outside of Exeter.
As the County town of Devon, Exeter is a mix of History and Modern. Why not take the opportunity to visit, a park and ride site is only a mile away.
Our organising committee have been working extremely hard over the past few years to bring you a traditional West Country experience. Our theme as you have already seen is Myths & Legends. The Region abounds with these - some well known nationally - such as the Widdecombe Fair or Padstow’s ‘Obby oss day and some not so well known - The Hairy Hands on Dartmoor which reach out to grab the steering wheel of some unsuspecting traveller.
I’m sure that there are many ideas that you can bring from all over the country. Take this chance to regale fellow campers with tales from your Home town.

Try the Local Meets page and you will see the Holiday Sites being run both before and after the event. All have been selected for their various attractions in the surrounding area and all will assure you of a warm welcome.
Our webmaster has assembled a variety of subjects on this site please feel free to use the pages and find out more about the 2007 NFOL.
We hope to add to the site as the event draws nearer so please keep looking.

Royal National Lifeboat Institute
The Chairman’s Charity
This year I have chosen as the Chairman’s Charity the Royal National Lifeboat Institution. The RNLI impact on many lives in the South West region as all but 2 of our DAs and Sections enjoy some element of a Coast Line within their bounds.
|
With so many of our fellow campers visiting the beaches you have probably seen at one time or another the work of the Lifeboats or Lifeguards.
|
Did you know for instance that in 2005 the RNLI rescued 8104 people - that’s 22 a day! Or that the Lifeguards helped 9930 people. You may have seen them on the BBC Television show - Seaside Rescue or on a practice display at your local beach.
All of this from an organisation that runs 233 Stations around the country, manned by volunteers, all funded by gifts and donations.. We have all seen the collecting boxes around most seaside towns.

When you visit the NFOL you will have the opportunity to ‘give your little bit’ of course should you wish to buy a Lifeboat I think they are only around £2.5 Million each at present. Should you wish to know more about their work please click on the links
