Dorset DA have received a letter from a CCC club member who lives in Swanage who is concerned about new on-road parking restrictions in the town.

At the moment there are parking restriction signs on some roads, which read “Parking – Motor cycles and Cars only” this is year round and not just seasonal, & with no time limits. This means that vans (trade or private) and motor homes, car & caravan are prohibited and will incur a £60 fine if parked there. This is the 2nd year this has been in place.

Now Swanage Town Council wishes to ask Dorset County Council to increase this restriction to other roads in the town and beach areas.

He states that if this is implemented then Swanage will become difficult for some members of our Club, visiting the town, and as it also relates to trade vehicles, then locals are also being penalised.

Car parks are available but not always van or motor home accessible.

He is asking for publicity about this and requests that anyone who feels strongly about this, and enjoys visiting Swanage, writes to the 2 Councils concerned voicing their opinions. Hopefully to get this restriction stopped before it spreads anymore in Swanage, and perhaps to other towns in the UK.

Request a written acknowledgement from them as they have a duty to provide one.
