Steward’s Report – Church Farm, Sixpenny Handley, Valentines/AGM – Mike & Sue Butchers

We arrived on Thursday afternoon to set up and immediately put the heating on as it was freezing outside. Stuart and Margaret were assisting us with the stewarding and arrived late afternoon. We had 32 units arrive over the Friday and Saturday which was a good turnout for such a cold weekend. We went down to the village hall at 1pm on Saturday to prepare the food for the evening. A big thank you to those who helped out with the setting up of the hall and the preparation of the food. It was greatly appreciated and done in record time! The evening was a great success and I would like to give a special thank you to Dianne for organising the food purchase and keeping us kitchen helpers organised and in line. The AGM on Sunday morning was held in the Bowling Club Clubhouse as it appeared the village hall had been double booked. This however was not the case and I have had apologies from the Chairman of the club as it was their mistake not ours! See letters below. Sincere apologies to those who attended.

Steward’s Report – Birchwood Touring Park – Keith & Pam Nation

What a great turnout, 49 units at the final count. Many thanks for supporting this meet. It may have been the weather or the fantastic stewards or even the home-made wine and cider or the ukulele players that enticed them to camp, but we are very grateful for your support and it makes stewarding so worthwhile. Thanks again.

Our next meet is at Warren Park Farm, Alderholt, March 31st – April 2nd. Post code SP6 3DE. Stewards are John and Joan Turvey (07883 898259) and you need to follow signs stating Sarum DA. Site fees £8.10 per unit night.

We have received thank you letters as below:
NEW YEAR MEET 2016/17 Hi Terry and Di, Another great New Year celebration with Dorset DA. Many thanks for all the hard work you put in to make it such a success. We feel very privileged to be included. We hope you have good camping during 2017 and a fantastic trip to Australia. With many thanks Mac and Helen.
Also a thank you card was sent from Rod and Barbara Smith.
An email message from Heather and Colin Brown - Please thank the committee and helpers for the New Year meet. It was a lovely weekend and very enjoyable. The hard work organising and putting on the meet is appreciated.

Apology letters received re Sixpenny Handley Village Hall, 12th February 2017.

Dear Susan,
My name is David Adams club captain for the Handley Bowls Club. I want to apologise to you and your members on behalf of the club for the stress we caused you today, we found out afterwards our fixture secretary made a mistake with the hall booking. Also a big thank you to you all for leaving our club in a clean and tidy condition. I hope Rosalie will refund you the cost of Sunday morning as we will pay for that, if you have incurred any other costs please send the bill to me. Kind regards David Adams.

Dear Sue,
I am writing to say how sorry I am for the inconvenience you were caused this morning. The bowls club had no right to get you to move as they had only booked from 2:30pm as usual. Their booking clerk has just rung me, apparently she should have booked a date in March too. I was out this morning so didn’t hear about what had gone on until mid-afternoon. Obviously you will not be charged anything for this morning. Hopefully you were able to have your meeting as planned. Kind regards Rosalie Adams.

Don’t forget to send your booking forms to me for the following meets – Bagwell Farm, Charmouth Club Site and the Country and Western Meet.

Thank you letter received from Bill and Nicky Bartholomew. Hi
Just wanted to say thank you so much for the valentine weekend you all organised. Although we have been to numerous rallies through the last ten summers this was the first winter rally we had attended. Wow, what a great time. The reception team were great, the venue was ideal (dry field with all good facilities and a bus service to Salisbury!), the buffet evening was excellent (everyone was so friendly, the committee worked so hard all evening, the hall looked great, the food was fab and the entertainment, Alto, were first class). So we just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who worked so hard to put the rally together and to make it happen so well, as a visitor I can tell you it was great, and we appreciate that it takes a lot of people working really hard in the background (pressies, raffle, washing up etc) to make it all work.
Thanks again, look forward to seeing you all again soon at future rally.
Regards Bill & Nicky Bartholomew
